the joy of walking away

so, i'm back from los angeles, and thank heavens for that.

and besides, shopping for a used car is one of the most bizarre and slightly entertaining experiences that a modern american can have. so much posturing, so much acting, so much doubt, so much melodrama. and i can honestly say that i felt an extreme sense of well-being and glee after walking away and out of the clutches of one high-pressure dealership today. nevermind the fact that i was rather disappointed at the end of the day to not drive home a new (actually old) automobile. hopefully i will do so on tuesday. (we did actually find a good car: we just want an independent mechanic to verify the 'good' part.)

why am i anti-capitalization tonight? maybe it's because i have to arrive at paper source at 6:45 AM tomorrow for inventory. what with that and used car shopping, it's enough to make any girl want to rebel a bit.

a la poste

Here's the first draft of the postcard I designed using the images from the shoot. The final version was a much more pared-down card with only two images, but I like this one as well.

My studio, my living room

You know you've hit the big time as a photographer when your studio is located in the corner of your living room, your product set doubles as your kitchen table, you're using the same crappy tripod you've had since high school, and your backdrop is also known as a curtain. On the other hand, it's hard to deny the charm of rolling out of bed and shooting in your pajamas, or breakfasting on coffee and baguette that you didn't have to pay 5 bucks for. In any case, I had a good time photographing Cooke and the Dude's new line of handbags and headbands today. More images coming soon.

Wow!

It's the new year! It's a good year! We saw the Flaming Lips on New Year's Eve Eve, aka Cale's birthday, and it was in fact the most amazing show I've ever seen in my life!

Glad tidings on you all, let us make some nice things occur this year.
